Our weekly photography challenge is Sunrise.
For our weekly photography challenge – Sunrise, you will need to get up early to capture the sunrise. So, set your alarm, grab a cup of coffee, and get out there to capture the warm glow of the morning light. The light is incredible at that hour, and worth crawling out of bed for!

Sunrise Photography Tips
- Scout the Location – Go to the location during the day, so you can determine the best location for shooting, and plan out your shots.
- Arrive Early – Get to your location about an hour before dawn, and you’ll be able to get some nice long exposure images.
- Bring Extra Light – Use a headlamp or a flashlight for safety. Since you’ll be arriving before the sunrise, you want to make sure to have some light to see where you are going.
- Use Silhouettes – Find interesting subjects, and shoot against the source of light and you’ll create beautiful silhouettes.
- Bring a Tripod – A tripod is a must have for shooting the sunrise. Bring a remote shutter release so you don’t end up with blurry photos. Sunrises are low light situations, so you’ll want a steady base for your camera, for longer exposures.
- Shoot During The Golden Hour – The Golden Hour lasts for about an hour. It happens right after the sun rises over the horizon, and you can capture some magical images during this time.
Here are some sunrise images for inspiration.
