Photographing Markets
Our Weekly Photography Challenge is Markets. Farmers markets, flea markets, street markets, art markets, antique markets can be found in just about any city. They are bustling with people, food, crafts, and other interesting items for sale.
Food markets and farmers markets bring out the locals, and are fun to hang out at, taste some of the local foods, and of course photograph.
You can capture shots of the food booths, different types of food, the crowds, and customers interacting with the vendors.
Don’t forget to get some detail shots. Capture some close ups of all the beautiful foods and items on display. Don’t be afraid to ask the vendors if you can include them in your shot. You’ll get some nice environmental portraits that way. And of course, it’s always nice to make a small purchase.
Make sure to take time to step back and observe the crowd. You’re sure to find some characters wandering around the markets, and they always provide interesting photo opportunities.
