4 Tips for Landscape Photography
- Shoot During the Golden Hour – The golden hour is often considered the best time of day to shoot. The lighting is gorgeous, and colors are vibrant. It’s also a good time to create silhouette shots.
- Try Some Long Exposures – Get creative with long exposures. Capture some dreamy images of flowing water with a slower shutter speed. Rivers, streams, waterfalls, oceans and lakes make great subjects. Make sure to bring a tripod, and a remote shutter release so you don’t end up with blurry photos.
- Use a Wide-Angle Lens – Wide angle lenses are able to produce nice sharp images and capture the whole scene.
- Use Neutral Density & Polarizing Filters – Neutral Density (ND filter) filters will keep too much light from entering the camera. You need them when using a slow shutter speed on a bright day in order to capture movement of water or clouds. Use a polarizing filter to darken the sky, reduce reflection glare, and make colors pop.
