Contest Summary: The Creative Portrait
We are pleased to announce LACP’s Annual Creative Portrait exhibition! This juried exhibition will be shown in LACP’s Culver City gallery from October 25th to November 30th, 2021*. The juror, Aline Smithson, will select portraits based on creativity, originality, and quality.
What defines a creative portrait?
It’s a portrait that transcends the norm through concept, process, or creativity. For this exhibition, we are not looking for typical portrait capture, but instead something that stretches beyond the classic–a portrait that challenges the viewer to look deeper. A truly creative portrait comes from a particular relationship between both subject and the photographer, with an end result that is not an image that simply breaks the rules, it’s an engaging photograph that both captures the essence of the subject and compels the viewer to stop and take notice.
